The 'Guns' lamp collection by the Italian company Flos is the first in the history of lighting design to represent a social and humanitarian protest. Philippe Starck, together with the historical company, created a family of three extremely provocative lamps where the stem is replaced by the reproduction of one of the most widely used weapons of the time. Designer Philippe Starck explains his project as follows: "Our life is only worth a cartridge. The Gun Collection is but a sign of the times. We have the symbols we deserve " The Guns-Lounge Gun floor lamp by the Italian company Flos is the largest model in the collection with a height of 169.4cm. A circular base supports the aluminium reproduction of the M16 assault rifle produced in America and used by its troops in the late 1960s. The lampshade of the Guns-Lounge Gun lamp has a classic shape and is made of plastic-coated paper with small crosses imprinted on the inside to remind the designer of people who have lost their lives to weapons. The body of the lamp is available in 18K polished gold or chrome and the shade is available in matt black with a gold inner texture or matt white with a silver inner texture.
The Guns-Lounge Gun floor lamp by the Italian company Flos is a targeted critique of the trade and disproportionate use of weapons that have rendered man incapable of resolving issues peacefully. The Guns collection is intended to be provocative by creating ironic and subtle objects that have become true design icons and are now on display in countless museums.
