The Toio floor lamp by the Italian company Flos was designed in 1962 by the Castiglioni brothers according to the rules of ready-made. A fishing rod, a 1960s 300W car headlamp and a folded sheet metal base or a floor lamp? Impressive is the balance and elegance that the Castiglioni brothers have managed to give to these united objects.
Toio is a floor lamp characterised by the assembly of several apparently unconnected elements. A folded metal sheet gives stability to the lamp and supports its body, a long brass rod represents a fishing rod and defines the height of the lamp which ends with a diffuser in the shape of a vintage car headlight. The power cable is exposed and connects directly to the loudspeaker down the frame where it is secured with eyelets on a replica of a real fishing rod. The Toio floor lamp by the Italian company Flos is also equipped with an electronic dimmer to create the desired atmosphere.
The Toio floor lamp by the Italian company Flos once again marks the Castiglioni brothers as visionary geniuses who knew how to take paths far removed from the fashions of their time. Toio is suitable for enthusiasts, scholars and anyone looking for a different, new, alternative piece to provoke the sterility of ordinary furniture.
