The VLA61 Monarch Chair was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1944, now in collaboration with Carl Hansen & Son the chair is reborn with a contemporary perspective on material composition and detailing. The product of hours of passionate craftsmanship, the chair has a poetic design combined with a functionalist approach.
According to Danish modernism, form must be complementary to function, and this is clearly evident in the VLA61 chair, which is exemplified by its double-curved armrests and organic design. The FSC™-certified oak or mahogany wood, available in different finishes, is polished several times to bring out their grain and to symbolise the special craftsmanship in the creation of this chair. Only when the chair is assembled is the upholstery of the seat and backrest inserted, choosing from various fabrics and leathers. The sinuous and light design is enhanced by elegant brass feet, which illuminate the entire chair.
