The Auckland armchair by Cassina, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, reinterprets the classic lounge chair in a contemporary key, preserving its timeless aesthetics and enveloping comfort. The alternation of materials and thicknesses gives the armchair a modern and versatile character, capable of interacting with different environments.
The swivel version with footrest, available in refined shades of black and white, stands out for its shell-shaped seat, deliberately exposed like armour: a poetic reference to the martial art of Kendo. The padded structure is protected by a cover that blends harmoniously with the pedestal stem, defined by a cantilevered sheet metal plate supported by four spokes. This bold combination generates a slight oscillating movement, barely perceptible but extraordinarily pleasant.
The headrest, adjustable to eight different heights, completes the design, offering a tailor-made ergonomic experience. The CFC-free polyurethane and polyester wadding padding, together with the gentle rocking of the base, envelops the user in total comfort. The leather or fabric upholstery, embellished with stitching that follows the curves of the seat, adds a sartorial touch.
Paired with its matching footstool, the Cassina Auckland armchair creates an intimate and welcoming corner, ideal for reading or relaxing. With its sculptural and distinctive design, it stands out as the protagonist of the space: an icon of style and functionality.
