Designed by master craftsman Carlo Scarpa in 1973, the Cassina Cornaro sofa stands out for its harmonious balance between geometric rigour and softness of materials. The sculptural wooden structure frames the generous padding that shapes the backrest, seat and armrests, creating a refined contrast between solidity and comfort.Â
The proportions have been revisited and enlarged—both in height and depth—through a careful process of research and development conducted in close collaboration with Tobia Scarpa. The base, available in glossy lacquered beech or matt lacquered open-pore ash, embraces the cushions on the sides and back, defining a contained and precious perimeter like the frame of a painting.
The padding reflects a commitment to sustainability: made from recycled PET fibre and polyurethane components containing bio-based polyols, it also incorporates the innovative Circularrefoam® material.
Every detail expresses the sartorial care taken in the design: from the thin black leather laces, visible but enclosed in a technical gasket that facilitates the connection of the backrest, to the upholstery fabric that adds softness and enhances the brilliance of the base and leather details.
Available in a linear or modular version, the Cassina Cornaro sofa interprets contemporary environments and classic 1970s-style spaces with personality, elegantly welcoming every moment of conviviality and relaxation.
