The Cassina Indochine Chaise Longue was created in 1943 by Charlotte Perriand, who, during the last months of her pregnancy — confined to bed — designed a chaise longue with armrests so she could continue reading, writing and drawing. Today, Cassina, in collaboration with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, reinterprets that pioneering intuition, blending it with contemporary materials and innovative solutions.
The sinuous and welcoming silhouette is designed to cradle the body, offering the utmost in comfort and ergonomics. The structure, made of painted tubular metal — replacing the original rattan — consists of three curved segments, joined by fasteners that define its aerodynamic profile. The armrests blend harmoniously into the base, while the seat naturally follows its fluid lines.
Comfort is further enhanced by elastic straps that support the seat and a removable mattress that envelops the structure. The soft, sustainable padding is made from recycled PET fibre and embellished with refined quilting stitched from edge to edge.
