The Cassina Notturno a New York sofa is a visionary tribute to the city that never sleeps, transformed into a piece of furniture by the creative genius of Gaetano Pesce. Produced in a limited series of 50 pieces, this imaginative project reinterprets the New York skyline, continuing the story that began in the 1980s with Tramonto a New York, the work with which Pesce paid homage to his adopted city through a sequence of upholstered pieces that evoked the urban horizon at dusk.
The system consists of nine skyscraper modules, which serve as seats and armrests, connected to each other by joint elements. The bold and poetic backrest depicts a large full moon, symbolising the hidden and mysterious side of the Earth, which Pesce reveals to the world with this creation. A numbered satin-finish steel plaque is laser-engraved on it, guaranteeing the authenticity and uniqueness of the series.
In this new edition, Cassina introduces a conscious and sustainable vision: the padding is made from recycled PET fibre, with a significant reduction in the use of polyurethane, replaced by polyols derived from biological sources. A concrete step towards more responsible design.
The upholstery, in an exclusive fabric, is decorated with a design created specifically for this model, making each piece a work of art. The Cassina Notturno a New York sofa is designed for modern homes, where it becomes an expression of an eccentric personality and a love of design. In contract spaces, it surprises with its original composition, transforming itself into a central, sculptural element capable of redefining the environment.
