Cassina Rio is a historic coffee table with a bold and refined design, combining unusual beauty and extreme functionality in an asymmetrical structure that, over time, has established itself as an authentic decorative work of art. Designed by Charlotte Perriand between 1962 and 1967 for the Japanese Embassy in Paris, Rio embodies an aesthetic vision that combines culture, craftsmanship and innovation.
Its composition is defined by six segments of different radii, placed side by side but offset, which create an articulated outer edge in solid wood and a central hole designed as a visual and spatial focal point. The base, composed of six oak boards, has a transparent matt finish that enhances its materiality. The customisable top is available in Carrara marble, Marquinia marble or a refined hand-woven Vienna straw texture, offering solutions ranging from classic to contemporary.
With its sculptural elegance and handcrafted attention to detail, the Cassina Rio coffee table takes centre stage in sophisticated settings as a coffee table and decorative element. Its versatility also makes it ideal for contract spaces—lounges, hotels, waiting areas—where it adds a distinctive and modern touch. Functional and timeless, Rio enriches any setting with personality and style, becoming a silent but eloquent protagonist of everyday life.
