The Fantasma floor lamp was created in 1961 when Tobia Scarpa and the Castiglioni brothers discovered a new material: Cocoon resin, which until then had been used in the military sector. It was the end of the Second World War and the beginning of a new Italy that quickly triumphed in the world of industrial design.
The Phantom Floor Lamp has a significant height of 183cm to 195cm depending on the model. The internal structure is made of a special steel mesh that allows the desired shape to be moulded, on top of which Cocoon resin is manually sprayed. The process is very long because the resin layer as we see it is formed by the accumulation of filaments positioned and arranged by skilled craftsmen. The Fantasma floor lamp is also equipped with an electronic dimmer allowing the light intensity to be adjusted.
The Fantasma floor lamp by the Italian company Flos is suitable for scenic furnishing of your environments: a totally illuminated body made of an opaque resin that filters the light diffusing it in a soft and delicate way. A really interesting object, especially if you think that it was the first floor lamp to be fully illuminated.
