Designed by Cristina Celestino for Saba, the Gala sofa bears a name that pays tribute to the stars and evokes the ideas of elegance and refinement. This new line of modular systems revolves around the key concept of flexibility: the vertical structure serving as the backbone of the sofa outlines the curves that can accomodate seat elements of different depths, both on the front and on the back.
Celestino took inspiration to the retro-future atmosphere characterizing the sofas of the '70s. The design is sculptural, sophisticated, and has a vintage allure. The pleated effect is a dear one to the designer, who has undertaken a thorough research on Roberta di Camerino and Pierre Cardin and has re-elaborated their ideas and re-interpreted the models of upholstered seats predating this sofa.
The central backbone of the Gala sofa by Saba is a vertical element that outlines pleated curves ready to accommodate, both on the front and on the back, seat-ottomans of different depths. The multiple configurations possible create a “hybrid” and flexible sofa which one can interact with.
