First unveiled in 1961, Gubi’s Model 597 lamp marked Gianfranco Frattini’s entry into the world of lighting, immediately revealing his visionary approach to light. Its playful and unexpected form perfectly embodies the Italian designer’s aesthetic, capable of transforming a functional object into a refined and surprising work of art. Elegant and striking, the Model 597 brings a unique charm to any setting, from the home living room to the most sophisticated lounge bars.
Its most iconic feature is the cream-coloured nylon fringes, inspired as much by the world of fashion as by the entrance curtains of Italian bars and shops in the 1950s. Thanks to the side-facing bulbs, the lamp diffuses 360° indirect light, softened by the fringes which create a rich, soft and enveloping atmosphere. The reflective aluminium shade adds warmth to the light directed upwards, completing a luminous balance of great refinement.
Carefree in appearance yet extremely functional, the Gubi Model 597 floor lamp combines cheerfulness, character and a striking presence, without resorting to superfluous embellishments. Its generous proportions transform it into a magnetic decorative element, capable of capturing the eye and elevating the space in which it is placed, becoming a true work of contemporary design.
