First designed in 1965, the Gubi V11 armchair is one of the most acclaimed creations by the renowned Danish designer Illum Wikkelsø, in which he expresses his purest vision: sculptural forms, intuitive comfort and craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Like the other Wikkelsø models reissued by GUBI, the V11 also exemplifies a design approach in which every detail is calibrated to combine aesthetics and functionality.
The armchair stands out for its trapezoidal body, a bold geometry echoed in the distinctive inverted pyramid-shaped solid wood legs. Despite its sharp angles and bold lines, the V11 is designed to offer surprising comfort, in line with Wikkelsø’s philosophy that a seat should accommodate the body in various positions, adapting naturally to everyday movements. Meticulously recreated by GUBI using a 3D scan of the original, the V11 collection comprises the armchair and matching footstool, both FSC®-certified (FSC®-C176589) and available in a wide range of upholstery options that enhance their expressive versatility.
With its distinctive and inviting shape, the Gubi V11 armchair becomes a focal point in the living room, in spaces designed for socialising or relaxation, as well as in hospitality settings where it serves both a decorative and functional purpose. Available in fabric or leather, it adapts effortlessly to a variety of interiors, always bringing with it a bold character and a striking presence that never goes unnoticed.
