The Altar table by Kettal was created in the mid-1960s based on a design by Miguel Milá, originally conceived as an altar for his wedding. From these intimate and symbolic origins emerged a piece of furniture that celebrates the art of simplicity and efficiency, in which the form—which appears, at first glance, to be minimalist—reveals a profound structural complexity and a strong connection with the materials.
The design logic of Altar is based on a rigorous balance between structural solidity and formal elegance. It is available in round, square or rectangular formats: in the versions with a round or square top, the central teak leg is formed by a refined interlocking of planks and sits on a cross-shaped base resting on the floor; in the rectangular version, however, the two teak legs are connected by a lower plank that ensures stability and visual coherence.
The top is available in various sizes and finishes, including painted aluminium, teak slats, marble or Glaze Agata, a paint finish that evokes the aesthetic and tactile feel of ceramic. This wide range of customisation options makes Altar extremely versatile, capable of adapting to different contexts and interpretations.
Placed in courtyards, patios, terraces or spaces designed for socialising, the Kettal Altar table becomes the focal point of the dining area. Its understated yet commanding presence embodies a timeless design philosophy, in which functionality, high-quality materials and refined design come together in perfect harmony.
