Kettal is reissuing the Basket armchair, an iconic design from the 1950s created by Danish designers Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel. Available in both indoor and outdoor versions, Basket evokes the charm of vintage seating, handcrafted from natural materials, instantly conjuring up the atmosphere of summer days spent outdoors.
The structure consists of a wooden base with simple, clean lines, formed by four legs connected by crossbars that support the seat shell. The latter, with its rounded, enveloping shape, resembles a genuine woven basket, a distinctive feature of the design. In the indoor version, the weave is hand-crafted from natural wicker with an oak wood base, in keeping with the original design. For outdoor use, however, weather-resistant materials are employed, such as synthetic fibre for the weave and teak wood for the frame.
Thanks to its timeless design and strong artisanal appeal, Kettal’s Basket armchair fits naturally into a variety of settings, from the home living room to outdoor spaces such as gardens, patios and verandas. Used on its own or alongside other furniture, it creates cosy relaxation corners dedicated to reading, conversation and socialising, offering comfortable seating full of personality.
