Designed in 1945, Greta M. Grossman’s B-4 table lamp embodies all the designer’s whimsical and striking energy, transforming shapes and colours into a playful yet refined play of light. Its movable, colourful shades cast a soft light around the table top, whilst the composition of angles, planes and volumes creates a lively and instantly recognisable presence. The Gubi B-4 table lamp fits naturally into almost any setting, adding a touch of elegant American modernism.
Its silhouette, with its stilted base and alternating coloured panels, evokes more than any other of the designer’s objects the iconic architecture Grossman created in the hills of Southern California: light, airy houses suspended on stilts, with cantilevered terraces and glass walls opening onto the landscape. With the same imaginative spirit, the B-4 translates those modernist principles into a luminous form that seems almost to float.
Available in three colour variants, the Gubi B-4 table lamp brings a playful accent to the living room, alongside sofas and armchairs, and even when switched off it stands as a small work of art, capable of capturing the eye and defining the space with a unique presence.
