The Luminator floor lamp was created in 1954 from the ideas of the Castiglioni brothers and the following year won the "Compasso D'Oro 1955" award. It was produced by various lighting companies until it came to Flos, which still owns it today.
The Luminator floor lamp reflects the aesthetic idea of the Castiglioni brothers, namely, a clean and essential design from which no element could be removed. Luminator is characterised by a three-leg metal base that supports a long enamelled and vitrified iron stem at the end of which is a bare light bulb with a 200W reflector. With a not inconsiderable height of 189cm, the Luminator floor lamp by the Italian company Flos broke away from everything that the industrial design scene had seen up to the mid-1950s, a real revolution in terms of form and aesthetics.
