The Tufty-Time sofa by B&B Italia is a design that was launched in 2005, created by Patricia Urquiola. It offers a modern reinterpretation of the capitonné and Chesterfield styles. The reference to traditional quilting can be seen in the square ‘blocks’ that make up the sofa, on the seat, the armrests and the backrest. A recurring feature is the low-set seat and backrests; this design element is intended to avoid making the room feel too heavy and to ensure the view remains unobstructed.
Tufty Time is a truly versatile B&B Italia sofa: starting with the square pouffe, a variety of configurations can be created – ranging from classic linear, corner or chaise longue arrangements to more unusual set-ups featuring peninsulas and islands that allow for 360-degree seating. Tufty Time also features updated stitching that is less pronounced, enhancing seating comfort. The configurations are complemented by a range of loose cushions, in various sizes, which slightly raise the seat, allowing you to sit in a more formal position and offering greater support to the lower back. Tufty Time is available in a fabric version, with fully removable and washable covers, in light grey.
The Tufty Time sofa with chaise longue by B&B Italia features large panels forming the seat, joined using a new deep-pleat technique, which helps to give the sofa a more modern aesthetic and certainly makes it more comfortable. The design is completed by two loose back cushions, which serve both an aesthetic and a functional purpose, as they provide greater back support.
