The design of the Cornice table by Riva 1920 offers the opportunity to stop and think, first of all because of the material it is made of: briquettes. The briccole are seen here as an outcropping material, taken away from water and its use to be reused as a fossil relic used in a symbolic way to build new forms. Elementary, Euclidean geometry guides the whole project.
The bronze-coloured metal structure of the Cornice table by Riva 1920 frames the briccola, transformed into a long, immobile axis, into a suspended panel, displayed as rediscovered, almost archaeological "wood" representing a history, a past, not completely knowable and mysterious. A small panel is added to the long sectioned briccola, which rotates on a pivot and, depending on the rotation, changes the perspective or the table setting.
The Cornice table by Riva 1920 represents the contradiction between nature and "progress" that marks today's world but allows easy placement in any room thanks to its aesthetic value.
