The Satellite suspension lamp by Gubi, designed by Mathieu Matégot in 1953 and available in two sizes, combines geometric shapes with an organically shaped shade, creating a sculptural aesthetic with a striking visual impact. The name, chosen by Matégot himself, pays homage to the scientific advances made in post-war France, evoking a futuristic and light-hearted imagery.
A distinctive feature of the lamp is the Rigitulle technique, an innovative material invented by the designer: a sheet of metal worked as if it were fabric, folded and shaped to create a unique, oblong form. The lampshade, available in five shades — midnight black, cloud white, soft cherry, Venetian gold and rain grey — completely envelops the bulb in a perforated metal shell, diffusing an evocative light that brings the space to life with a festive and vibrant atmosphere.
