The Kurage table lamp by Foscarini Italia is the result of collaboration with two major design studios. Kurage means "jellyfish" in Japanese, a name that perfectly reflects the appearance of this lamp on which years and years of technique and history rest.
The Kurage lamp by Foscarini Italia is made from very simple materials that are unfortunately little used nowadays: the four legs of the base are made from natural-coloured ash wood and the electrical cable is covered with a paper fibre sock. The very simple base of Kurage supports a truly amazing diffuser made of high-quality Japanese washi paper made of mulberry fibres. Washi paper is a special type of traditional Japanese paper characterised by its creation process: completely by hand. This handcrafted technique produces a smooth and porous paper that filters light, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
