Nemo

The Italian lighting designer firm Nemo was founded in 1993 by Franco Cassina in Milan. Nemo is the child of a fervent city and the heir of a history of innovations that have forged the idea of design, a combination that was meant to promote the success of the company. The products designed by Nemo were extremely innovative and had a massive aesthetic impact aiming to educate customers on the new furniture concept that was taking over Italian and European creative centers, that is the balance between functionality and significant aesthetic research. During the ‘80s and the 2000s, Nemo acquired a few Italian lighting companies, thanks to which it was able to solidify its success and start multifaceted collaborations. In 2007 the company became the Light Division of the Cassina company, a reality devoted to elegance. In 2008, Nemo and its parent company were acquired by the Poltrona Frau group, thanks to which they were able to reorganize internally and externally without compromising their philosophy, which is deeply rooted in the ancient Italian arts. Nemo has been collaborating with the most renowned international modern designers like Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Vico Magistretti, Franco Albini, and Kazuhide Takahama, who are still represented by the “Masters” collection. Today, Nemo attracts designers like Carlo Forcolini, Jehs + Laub, Javier Mariscal, Karim Rashid, Ilaria Marelli, Foster + Partners, Hannes Wettstein, and Roberto Paolo, whose collaboration with the company brought forth the “Contemporary” collection, which is enriched by architectural lighting projects.
