The Cassina Doge table is a true icon of Italian design, a sculptural expression and manifesto of the Ultrarationalist movement which, in the late 1960s, proposed overcoming rationalism by reviving the aesthetic values of tradition. Originally designed by Carlo Scarpa, Doge was subsequently updated with new materials and finishes as part of the C90 Mutazioni programme, while retaining its conceptual strength.
In the first model, Scarpa intervened with an innovative language, redefining shapes and proportions to convey an image of power and character. The architectural base, in aluminium or satin-finish steel, is composed of thick flat profiles that lend solidity and presence. The transparent, lightweight float glass top reveals the refinement of the structural details and support elements, creating a harmonious dialogue between matter and void.
The current version is available in five sizes, with tops in glass, white Carrara marble or black Marquiña marble, offering versatile solutions for classic or contemporary settings. Each finish is designed to enhance the sculptural nature of the design and its ability to adapt elegantly to different contexts.
Doge by Cassina is much more than a table: it is a central element of conviviality, capable of capturing the eye and defining the style of a dining room. With its minimalist and visually light design, it stands out as the protagonist of the space, celebrating the encounter between art, architecture and function.
