Designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1938 for her studio in the Montparnasse district of Paris, Cassina's Table Montparnasse belongs to the famous "En Forme Libre" series, designed to maximise space through organic and unconventional shapes. With its asymmetrical six-sided silhouette, this model is unique in the history of design, capable of subverting the traditional idea of a table, usually linked to simple and rigid geometries.
The structure, surprisingly stable despite resting on only three cylindrical legs, is dominated by an emblematic top, conceived by Perriand with a dual purpose: to adapt to smaller spaces and comfortably accommodate a generous number of guests. The edges, alternating between straight lines and slight concavities, culminate in rounded corners that give the table a feeling of softness and hospitality. The legs, thin and slightly off-centre, are positioned to ensure maximum comfort for every seat.
Available in two refined matt wood finishes – natural Canaletto walnut and black-stained ash – the Cassina Table Montparnasse brings warmth, character and prestige to the dining area. Its fluid, enveloping shape invites conviviality, transforming every moment around the table into an experience of timeless beauty and authentic well-being.
