A symbol of cutting-edge technology and formal experimentation, Cassina's Tulu is a stackable sled chair designed in 1968 by renowned Japanese architect Kazuhide Takahama, commissioned by Dino Gavina's historic company Simon—now part of Cassina under the name Simon International.
With its visually light and elegant profile, the Cassina Tulu chair represents a milestone in industrial design: it was one of the first chairs to replace the traditional bent tube with a thin, curved metal rod, induction electro-welded and then chrome-plated or painted. This innovative solution allows for tighter bends and the use of multiple automatic welding machines, optimising the production process in a single phase.
The seat, supported by this essential frame, is thin but surprisingly comfortable, thanks to the reinforcement with elastic straps, wadding lining and zip that allows the cover to be removed. Every detail is designed to combine functionality and aesthetic care.
Elegant and discreet, the Cassina Tulu chair naturally furnishes residential dining rooms and hospitality spaces, creating sophisticated and welcoming atmospheres. It is a seat that invites conviviality, but at the same time stands out as a decorative element capable of enhancing any style and context.
