Cassina's iconic Veliero bookcase reinterprets the concept of balance, transforming itself into a piece of furniture that showcases Franco Albini's visionary ingenuity. Designed in 1940 as a unique piece for his Milanese home, it has been reissued by Cassina after extensive research and engineering work, becoming a symbol of the company's design and construction capabilities.
The structure recalls the essence of a sailing ship: a V-shape from which extra-clear tempered glass shelves are suspended, creating a sense of lightness and transparency. Completing the design is a system of metal cables that support the shelves and generate a sophisticated visual interweaving that is both technical and poetic.
Faithful to the experimental spirit of the original, the Cassina Veliero bookcase retains its striking linearity and poetic subtlety, creating intervals of light and air that allow books and objects to float in space. In the living room, it stands out as a true work of art: a sculptural element that transcends time, maintaining its magic intact and affirming a radical idea of balance and beauty.
