Do Maru is an armchair with an undoubtedly poetic theme, created by the skilful hand of the Doshi-Levien design duo and presented for the 50th anniversary of the historic Italian company B&B Italia during one of the glamorous events of Made in Italy design, it combines clean lines with ancient memories that rekindle curiosity about the shapes of the ancient Yoroi armour of the legendary Samurai, which were customised with the coats of arms of the clans they belonged to and protected the body with varnished leather plates. Thus the armchair comes to life with two shells that overlap to form the seat and back.
These are covered in fabric or leather of various colours for the front of the armchair while the outside can be made in three different shades, anthracite white or dove grey. The rear support made of cast aluminium gives support to the conical structure of the armchair while the pair of legs made of varnished aluminium tubing gives lightness and designs the slightly curved profile or the seat which intensifies its curve at the sides creating a natural, enveloping, comfortable seating position.
Like other projects by the eclectic design duo, it offers glimpses of different cultures, with classicism and elegance characteristic of B&B Italia products.
