Gubi’s 1965 suspension lamp is based on the original design that Paavo Tynell created in 1948 for the Finland House in New York, one of the most ambitious and successful showcases of Finnish design in the world. Like many of his most famous creations, the 1965 also reflects the designer’s extraordinary ability to transform metal into a light, poetic, almost vibrant material.
By perfecting techniques for finishing and perforating brass, Tynell developed a pendant lamp capable of combining grace with exuberant lightness. The soft, curvilinear frosted glass shade is available in four colours and is embellished with a pattern of triangular perforations, a recurring detail in his work that testifies to his refined craftsmanship.
The Gubi 1965 suspension lamp helps to create a delicate and peaceful atmosphere, thanks to the exquisite brass details and the small perforations that elegantly modulate the light. Hanging above the dining table, in a corner of the living room or in commercial spaces such as formal meeting rooms, it brings with it a discreet and timeless charm, illuminating the space with a luminous presence that never ceases to enchant.
