Launched in 2003, the GUBI 3D armchair was one of the first pieces to join the brand’s collection and has since become one of its most recognisable symbols. Designed by the Danish studio Komplot Design, it marked a turning point thanks to its pioneering use of three-dimensional veneer moulding technology, a process that gives the shell a unique visual lightness and surprising comfort. The outward-curving edges amplify the sense of openness, making the chair welcoming and soft to the touch and to the eye.
The extraordinarily versatile design lends itself to extensive customisation: the shell can be made from veneer or HiRek, whilst the seat can be left bare in the same material or upholstered — in fabric or leather — creating a refined interplay between hard and soft surfaces. The collection stands out precisely for this balance of materials, further enhanced by the silver sled base, with its light and contemporary profile, which gives the armchair a graphic and sophisticated character.
Warm, minimalist and instantly recognisable, the GUBI 3D armchair becomes a striking focal point in the living area, blending effortlessly with tables, sofas and a variety of design styles. It brings a harmonious balance of innovation, craftsmanship and design to the space, reaffirming its iconic status.
Designed for outdoor use as well, the more casual version in recycled plastic further expands its range of applications: it is available in three shades — black, moon grey and alabaster white — which enhance its silhouette and make it perfect for terraces, gardens and contemporary outdoor spaces.
