The Overlap S1 pendant lamp is the latest addition to the 2018 Flos catalogue. Conceived and designed by the Nordic Michael Anastassiades, produced by the Italian company Flos.
The Nordic designer revives a particular material to which the company is particularly attached: Cocoon. The history of the introduction of this resin into design speaks of the roots of the Italian company Flos. It was the 1950s and Cocoon resin had been used throughout the war to cover and protect the equipment of American soldiers when the Italian company Flos launched the first lamps made of this material. The use of this resin has been studied and improved until today and the Overlap S1 lamp. The structure is characterised by the union of two white painted steel circles on top of which this particular resin is sprayed, which once hardened takes on its characteristic material and veiled appearance: a screen that filters the light in an incredible way. Available in a version with 126cm height (Overlap S2) or in a smaller form with 82cm height (Overlap S1).
