In Japanese calligraphy there is an invisible continuity between dots, lines and characters, called 'iren'. This principle, which unites the signs in perfect harmony despite their apparent separation, inspires Poltrona Frau's Iren desk by designer Kensaku Oshiro. With a simple gesture, this desk gives life to new working scenarios and rituals, encouraging a natural fluidity between body and object.
Available in free-standing and wall-mounted versions, the Iren desk adapts to different needs. The free-standing version rests on a solid ash trestle base, while the wall-mounted version is mounted on brackets. The two superimposed shelves slide over each other, creating new work and storage spaces. The upper, slightly raised shelf conceals a storage space for small items, as well as a provision for charging and USB sockets. While the wall-mounted version can be equipped with integrated LED lighting for greater convenience in low-light conditions. The shelf is gently inclined, ensuring optimal comfort for the forearms.
The wooden surfaces are made of ash, in elegant Wenge or Moka shades, while the tops are upholstered in leather or hide, embellished with tone-on-tone or contrasting stitching. The movement of the top can be customised to the right or left, allowing perfect adaptation to the space and needs of the user.
Sophisticated and essential, the Iren desk by Poltrona Frau lightly furnishes any environment, creating a comfortable and elegant work corner. Ideal for the home office, it maintains a perfect balance between refined design and practical functionality.
