Poltrona Frau's Billie carpet is named after Billie Holiday, one of the most beautiful and melancholic jazz voices of the early 20th century. A tribute to a musical genre much loved by the artist and which has influenced his work.
Poltrona Frau's Billie rug is characterised by a rigorous, almost constructivist design that occupies a large part of the rug's surface. The graphics are apparently simple, made up of a few elements that are extremely well balanced in every single detail. Just two marks on a neutral background: a deep red one, formed by a circle and a vertical line, and an anthracite grey one, composed of two perpendicular lines. The result is of great formal balance and visual impact. In order to respect the original design and proportions, Billie is available in one size and one colour.
Poltrona Frau's Billie rug is entirely handmade on wooden looms using the Tibetan knot-knot technique. It is made of 50% wool and 50% linen, carefully selected natural fibres that give the carpet a velvety and slightly shiny appearance, with chiaroscuro effects and different colour perception depending on the direction in which the pile is viewed.
