Taking its name from the epic poems of antiquity, Gubi’s Epic table, designed by GamFratesi, stands out as a piece of furniture with a strong sculptural presence, inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture. Originally created in Italy in travertine, it has now evolved into a new version, the first of its kind by the duo, crafted from steel plates: galvanised, lacquered and finished through a series of manual processes that make each surface unique and one-of-a-kind, like a piece from an atelier.
The structure is defined by a round top supported by a central hexagonal base, a pure geometry that enhances both the monumentality of the marble and the industrial aesthetic of the metal. The finishes range from white travertine to burnt red, where the natural veining takes centre stage, to three metallic variants, each characterised by textures and shades generated by the artisanal finishing processes. Each version offers a different interpretation of the material, whilst preserving the project’s iconic power. Only in the original travertine version is the table also available with an elliptical top supported by two monolithic columns that emphasise its sculptural and majestic presence.
The Epic table collection by Gubi adds character to private interiors and a distinct tactile quality to public and hospitality spaces, where the hard-wearing surfaces ensure exceptional durability. Whether used as a dining table in a home dining room, as the centrepiece of a restaurant or lounge bar, or as a sculptural feature in a corner of the home, Epic elevates any space with its monolithic elegance and timeless character.
