"Le Bambole" by Mario Bellini, a design icon of the 1970s. this seat is one of the major expressions of that creative period of architects and industry in Brianza. Compasso, d'oro in 1979, this armchair developed together with the B&B Italia Research & Development Centre broadens experimentation in the use of cold-formed flexible polyurethane covering a skeleton of tubular and profiled steel. The idea was that of an amorphous material contained in a bag which, when placed on the ground, moulded its contents. Then the idea changed to a cushion, the thought was of a new upholstery and a whole family of products with this free form, of extreme softness in all its components, in fact, decomposed the Dolls became other cushions a simple line, natural that expressed total comfort. The advertising that followed and described the success of the product was also a precursor of a provocative, innovative and non-conformist way of communicating. B&B Italia decided to launch a Jeans version, an icon of the period, and Oliviero Toscano, then an up-and-coming photographer, together with a model Donna Jordan, created an advertising campaign that censored the success of the dolls and had a positive impact on the promotion of the product.
Le Bambole is put back into production in the '07 version with the Poltrona, two-seater and three-seater sofa, renewing a must of Italian design.
