The Banquette Mauritanie bench by Cassina, designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1959, is part of a collection of furniture intended for the accommodation of managers and workers of the Miferma mining company, located in the city of Cansado, on the Atlantic coast of Mauritania.
Characterised by a sophisticated and timeless design, the bench features a striking grid of wooden slats resting on a refined metal base. It can be used in its basic form, without cushions, to highlight its slender structure, or enhanced with a seat cushion—available in two or three-seater versions—and completed with easily removable and washable back cushions to offer a variety of uses. To meet contemporary needs, it is also available in an electrified version with integrated USB sockets.
The Banquette Mauritanie stands out for its harmonious combination of contrasting materials: black painted metal legs with a low gloss finish are paired with solid wood slats veneered in natural oak or black-stained beech, complemented by a removable leather or fabric cover.
Designed to furnish contract environments such as waiting rooms, hotel rooms or representative offices with elegance and versatility, Cassina's Banquette Mauritanie bench is the ideal choice for enhancing the space with a comfortable and customisable seat, alternating upholstered elements with surfaces to be highlighted.
