The iconic shapes of Soriana, the famous armchair designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1969 and awarded the Compasso d'Oro the following year, blend with the finest denim to create an exclusive piece of furniture that combines fashion and design. The result is Soriana denim crafted by Roy Roger's®, developed in collaboration with the brand of the first Italian blue jeans. The upholstery is made from the highest quality Japanese selvedge denim: a long-staple American cotton, woven on traditional shuttle looms from the 1960s, recognisable by its white edge with red thread—the so-called selvedge—which prevents fraying.
The aesthetics of the upholstery are inspired by Roy Roger’s® archive jeans: artisanal techniques such as stone wash and délavé run through the folds of the padding, enhancing the soft and enveloping profile of the armchair. The large metal bracket that defines its shape is painted in copper, a direct reference to the rivets of classic five-pocket jeans.
The internal structure consists of bags filled with BioFoam® microbeads: the first patented organic foam, made from biopolymers derived from natural sources. This material is durable, biodegradable and compostable at the end of its life cycle. Comfort is guaranteed by recycled PET blown fibre padding from Plastic Bank®, confirming a sustainable and conscious approach.
